Spicy Falafels

Spicy Falafels

One of the easiest recipes you will ever make. Tasty, fun and filling - great for packed lunch boxes!

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 400g can chickpeas
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder 
  • 1 tsp ground coriander 
  • 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
  • 1 egg
  1. Wash and drain your chickpeas 
  2. Finely chop you onion, crush the garlic and beat your egg 
  3. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large pan, then fry the onion and garlic over a low heat for 5 mins until brown and softened. 
  4. Tip into a large mixing bowl with the chickpeas and spices, then mash together until the chickpeas are totally broken down. 
  5. Stir in the dried herbs, with seasoning to taste. 
  6. Add the egg, then squish the mixture together with your hands. 
  7. Mould the mix into 6 balls, then flatten into patties. 
  8. Heat the remaining oil in the pan, then fry the falafels on a medium heat for 3 mins on each side, until golden brown and firm. 
  9. Serve hot or cold and enjoy.
